A flat tire can ruin your daily drive in the Seattle area. Our Land Rover Bellevue service center wants to empower you with the knowledge to handle a flat tire safely and get back on the road. We’ll cover the steps of replacing a tire and what to do afterward.

Safety First

Pull over to the side of the road safely. Find a leveled spot away from traffic, engage your parking brake, and turn on your hazard lights. Then, locate your jack, lug wrench, and spare tire. These should all be located in the cargo area of your Land Rover vehicle.

Replace the Flat Tire

Loosen the nuts using a lug wrench, but don’t remove them yet. Position the jack on the designated frame point near the flat tire and raise the vehicle about six inches off the ground. You can consult your owner's manual for more details.

Swap and Install the Spare Tire

Next, remove the loosened lug nuts and the flat tire. Install and mount the spare tire, then tighten the lug nuts you removed by hand. Lower your Land Rover vehicle using the jack and tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern with the wrench. Make sure the lug nuts are snug but not overtight.

Important Next Steps

Stow your flat tire, tools, and anything else you used safely and securely. Remember, a temporary spare tire has a limited lifespan, typically no more than 50 miles. It’s essential to get a full-size replacement installed at our Land Rover service center in Bellevue, WA.
